On Friday, 13th March, Ambassador Philip Bob Jusu and senior embassy staff met with the Mayor of Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Benoît Cerexhe and Administrator Michaël Rimé in Brussels. This meeting is part of the embassy’s strategy to strengthen ties with local authorities in the missions’ host communities.
The Ambassador thanked the municipal leadership for the security and services provided to the diplomatic corps. He noted that while missions typically prioritise national ministries, local government relations are essential for mutual understanding.
Beyond local administrative matters, the Ambassador presented Sierra Leone as a destination for economic partnership, specifically within the context of the Mano River Union’s regional trade potential. He stressed the importance of long-term, transparent investment. He further noted Sierra Leone’s role as a gateway to the 30-million-strong Mano River Union market, conveying the President’s interest in transparent, long-term partnerships.
Mayor Benoît Cerexhe welcomed the delegation and talked about the municipality’s focus on supporting the diplomatic community. He also acknowledged the importance of these bilateral links and expressed a willingness to explore future economic and collaboration between Sierra Leone and his municipality.
