Ambassador Jusu rekindling relationships with GIZ and IOM

Ambassador Philip Bob Jusu held meetings with the Directors of GIZ and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), demonstrating his commitment to enhancing Sierra Leone’s international relationships.
During his discussion with GIZ, Ambassador Jusu expressed his desire to rekindle the positive working relationship he had with the organisation during his previous posting in Ethiopia. He commended GIZ’s impact across Africa and emphasised the need for continued cooperation on shared interests in Sierra Leone. Ambassador Jusu also conveyed his enthusiasm for joint projects that would benefit Sierra Leone, aiming to reset and strengthen ties with European institutions based on mutual respect and shared ownership.
Reinhold Elges, GIZ’s Director, highlighted the importance of understanding Sierra Leone’s objectives, given GIZ’s role as an implementing agency for the German government, the EU, and other member states. He extended an invitation for Embassy staff to participate in GIZ’s dialogue platform in Brussels, which serves as a hub for events and networking.
Lukas Gehrke, Director of the IOM’s Global Office in Brussels, thanked Ambassador Jusu for reaching out to them. He acknowledged that migration remains a persistent and pressing global challenge, noting that countries like Sierra Leone have an opportunity to reshape international cooperation on migration and diaspora issues. Mr. Gehrke pledged to explore opportunities for training and support.
The meetings were attended by Mr. Jonathan Las-Lamin (Head of Chancery), Mr. Saifu George (Councillor), Ms. Betty Milton (Information Attaché), Ms. Regina Mukondola (Consular Assistant), Mr. Ahmed Tejan-Kabba (Research and Policy Officer), and Ms. Betty Dodd (ABP to the Ambassador).
