The Sierra Leone House of Parliament has today approved Ambassador Philip Bob Jusu as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Belgium after his Parliamentary interview on the 9th of December 2024.
Ambassador Bob Jusu is not a stranger to Belgium and the European Union, having spent eleven years at the African Union, including six at the AU Permanent Mission in Brussels as Principal Adviser to the Permanent Representative and Group of African Ambassadors, where he provided strategic guidance on socio-economic issues within the AU-EU Partnership framework.
Ambassador Bob Jusu sees this appointment as an honour, and such appointment should not be taken for granted, particularly in the service of the country.
He stated that he is coming from a different background in diplomacy, including multilateral, economics, and technology diplomacy, which he had employed while working with the UN, AU, and Google.
The Ambassador stated that Brussels is the hub for all the above-mentioned diplomacies.
“With my background, my role will be to leverage on these institutions, and also to identify the challenges we are faced with in Brussels, as well as the other countries of accreditation and how we can work to surmount those challenges,” he disclosed.
Before his appointment on the 13th of November 2024, Ambassador Jusu was Manager, Africa Strategic Partnerships at Google, where he cultivated and strengthened relationships to advance Google’s objectives in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Ambassador Philip Bob Jusu began his international career with RMS Refugee Resettlement in New Zealand, where he focused on refugee resettlement and integration. He then transitioned to the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), where he worked on human rights and equality.
