Advisory for Travellers to/from Countries with High Transmission, Exponential Increase in Cases, and/or Circulation of SARS COV-2 (COVID-19) Variants of Public Health Concern
The Government of Sierra Leone has been following the COVID-19 situation globally with increasing concern. While case counts have plateaued in some countries, other countries have had high transmission and an exponential increase in cases, which has been attributed to new variants of the SARS COV-2 virus.
In order to prevent the entry into Sierra Leone of these variants, as from Wednesday May 12, 2021, NaCOVERC will institute additional protective measures on travel between Sierra Leone and countries known to have high SARS-COV-2 transmission, a sudden increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, and/or circulation of variants of Public Health concern.
NaCOVERC will take necessary action to identify countries based on operational review on a weekly basis as new evidence emerges.
